Holy Week 08 - Semana Santa 08

Like every year, the cellebrations of the Passion, death and ressurrection of our Lord begin in our City of Elche with the Palm Sunday remembering the Triumphant entry of Jesus into the city of Jerusalem. On this day, people pour themselves into the streets and each day is marked with great processions of different images of Saints by fraternities around the given saint. It is just wonderful. Describing it would be difficult, it is better to be there to feel the emotion... Young and old alike, personifying the context in which our Lord lived and even actuating the first centuries of the christian faith whereby the penitents would come out in public (as a sign of penance) to confess and in away "pay for their sins". They are the musked individuals behind these hoods.

As for me, I usually have to go to a separate place to do what we call: Missionary Youth Easter with our groups. It is a different way of living the week. It was just wonderful too this year. We had time for everything and the weather was just cool!!!! We perpetuate the memory of this moment with some of these photos. Enjoy...





Como cada año, la celebración de la Pasión, muerte y resurección de nuestro Señor empieza en nuestra ciudad de Elche con el Domingo de Ramos, conmemorando la entrada triumfante de Nuestro Señor Jesuscristo a la ciudad de Jerusalén. Este día, la gente sale a las calles y cada día es marcada por las grandes procesiones con diferentes imágenes de Santos acompañado por las cofradías entorno al dicho santo. Es estupendo. Describirlo sería difícil, sería bueno estar ahí para sentir la emoción... Jóvenes y viejos por igual, personificando el contexto en que vivió nuestro Señor y hasta actualisando la realidad de los primeros siglos del cristianismo donde los penitentes podía salir públicamente (como signo de penitencia) y confesar y de una forma "pagar por sus pecados". Son los que van con el capirucho.

Para mí como siempre, tenemos que ir a otro sitio con los jóvenes para hacer lo que llamamos: Pascual Juvenil Misionera. Es una manera diferente para vivir la semana. Este año también fue estupendo. Tuvimos tiempo para todo y el buen tiempo nos acompañó. Queremos perpetuar la memoria de este momento con algunas de esas fotos. ¡Disfrute!
